Dear Families of Arbuckle Elementary School,

I am excited for another great year at AES and am extremely proud to be a part of this great school and community. At AES we take pride in providing your student with the highest quality education that is rigorous, relevant and built on the foundation of relationships and kindness.  I strongly believe that a quality education must focus on the whole child and that is an extremely large focus here at AES.  We have created a “Counseling Center” which is in the old ELD room next to the stage.  This larger space opens up many possibilities for our counselors to work with groups of students and utilize technologies to teach a set curriculum to students needing additional support.

I am so excited to tell you that our new classroom facility is complete!  The construction crew along with district staff have worked hard throughout the year and over the summer to ensure the project was completed on time and we made it!  The new facility will be the home of our 2nd and 3rd grade teachers and students.  The building also includes a new set of bathrooms and drinking fountain that will serve the 2nd and 3rd grade students.  The new building also serves as a gateway to the portables which will now be the home of PE, ELD, reading intervention, speech, special education and music.   With the addition of the new classrooms we have decided to take this opportunity to re-number the classrooms so that we have a more consistent numbering system.  Be patient with us as we all learn the new numbers!

The addition of the new classrooms has allowed us to put the ASES program back in their own classroom facility.  ASES will be held in the old music, PE and speech rooms which is the portable cluster on the west side of campus.

In addition to having high academic standards for our students we also strive to promote good values and character education.  This year I am excited that AES will continue to be a part of The Great Kindness Challenge.  In order to have students that are well rounded we must teach good values and positive character traits.  The Great Kindness Challenge will be a platform for continuing and focusing on our character education.  We will continue to have our Character Matters Assemblies (CMA’s) that will be held Friday mornings from 8:30-9:00.  At these assemblies students will learn about character education, participate in singing, and be recognized for their reading counts and math accomplishments.

AES will be operating a school store for students again this year.  Every day students will have opportunities to earn “Bulldog Bucks” these dollars can be used to buy items from the school store, which will be open on Fridays.  We hope to promote positive behavior and reward students who work hard and are contributing citizens on our campus.  A BIG thank you to the AES Parents’ Club for partially funding the school store.  If you are interested in donating items to our Bulldog Store please contact Mr. Kitchen.  We would be ecstatic to receive your donations!

I also want to take a moment to express the importance of following our pickup and drop off procedures.  The parking lot has a drop off zone.  Please use it as that.  Do not park in the drop off lane.  If you need to park to wait for your student please pull in to a dedicated parking spot.  When you stop and get out in the drop off lane it holds up the flow.  If you have younger students that need your assistance to get out please pull in to a spot, help them out and walk them to the gate.  Your cooperation in this will ensure our students are getting to school safely.

In closing, I look forward to welcoming all students and I am confident that we will experience another positive and enriching school year.  Please contact the office at 476-2522 should you have any questions.
